The PSU Center for Japanese Studies
presents ”朱へ”
（Vermillion Passion),
a concert featuring Japanese Koto master
Mitsuki Dazai and International Harmonica
Virtuoso Joe Powers, performing for the
first time in the United States the concert
theme "朱へ”
(akae = Vermillion Passion),
composed by Hikaru Sawai,former rock star.
Joining them as special guest artists are
the NY based Shakuhachi grand master
James Nyoraku Schlefer and Tokyo based
Tango pianist Naoko Aoki.
Mitsuki and Joe performed as DUO at the World Harmonica
Festival in St. Aignan, France as well as at the Maison du Japon in Paris in conjunction
with the Japan/France relationship's 150th year anniversary celebration. This is their first appearance together since
their May, 2008 French tour! Koto/harmonica is definitely a unique combination. This sample recording is just a taste of what you can look forward to on Feb. 17th.
